recuperation
Two kids home sick today, but as you can see...Becca was feeling well enough to horse around. We all felt queasy on and off, but by dinner EVERYONE was asking for seconds. I guess we are officially well. Thank goodness.
Parker and homework. He's very good about whipping through his homework. He's fairly cooperative when I set the timer for his 15 minutes of reading. But when we finally get to piano practice, well, he's just had it. His patience level is at about -4. I try giving him a break and coming back to piano. Really, it's just too many "sit down" things to do after school when all he really wants to do is go outside and play. I feel his pain, but work is work and by age seven...one must buckle down to the nitty gritty realities of life. I mean, come on now, life isn't all about SpongeBob. Right?
Aahhh. Now this does a mother's weary heart some good. When I snapped this picture Madison and Parker were working out how to show the difference between two numbers using base ten blocks. She was helping him break it down when he didn't have enough ones. If that's not love, I'm not sure what is.
As for me, I managed to clean out the pantry today...not the food side, but the OTHER side, which has been in a frightening condition for some time. I managed to throw away an entire lawn and leaf bag of miscellaneous stuff that was clogging the shelves. I also reorganized the desk in the back of the kitchen, devoting an entire drawer to Crayola products. If I learned one thing today, it is this: I do not need to purchase Crayola crayons EVER AGAIN. We're full up on Crayola crayons.
Tomorrow I'm going to tackle the linen closet in my bathroom. If that goes well, I might take a stab at affordable health care for all Americans or an alternative fuel source. I'll let you know how it goes.

I am so sorry to hear of the sad state of your stomach. Even though I have been kinda hoping to catch the bug so my diet would be easier to start. Because when you go a couple days hating food, it just seems easier to get through the day on a calorie restricted diet. I'm sick now too, but it is strictly of the sore throat/sniffles/swollen glands variety. Oh, and I have developed viscious sneezing as well. But I'm still on the no-fun diet, little trooper that I am, soldiering on. Involuntarily swallowing the contents of my sinuses does seem to take the edge off my appetite. But I wonder, is it low calorie? Sorry. But you started it with the dry heaves, you know.

Hey-sounds like you guys are NOT having as much fun as I am-sitting all day in classes listening to wonderful speakers and wondering when the day will be done? Sorry you are all so sick....hopefully by now you are all doing much better. On a positive note-since I see you are the photography queen...how do you make a collage of photos to put on your blog or website? I am guessing in photoshop-but need a little guidance. I joined the ranks of the Mac users about 4 years ago and LOVE being in that class. Can't believe I waited so long. You will love it too. Does take some getting used to; but will love all the amazing things it can do. So do you use photoshop a lot. I have Elements 6 and just don't get/make the time to figure it all out. I know enough to take out wrinkles, red-eye and all the extra length/width of my thighs. but haven't figured out the collage thing yet. Can you help? Thanks-kathy
