I call this photo "Boy Submerged." You could alternately title it "Momma roasting next to the pool."
But let's talk about something else.
Last night around 7:30 the wind picked up and clouds gathered.
You'd have thought it was Christmas Eve, what with all the glee and such. I started making bets with Sterling on whether we would see real-life, actual rain drops. He voted yes, but I wanted to make the betting interesting (and not get my hopes up), so I said "no way."
It stormed. Yes, it did...with all of our church's youth group out in various cars during a service scavenger hunt. They came back soaking wet, and I don't think anyone minded even one tiny bit. Everyone stayed up late and talked about the water that fell from the skies.
I kept shooing little people to bed.
I, for one, after four consecutive days of school and early morning seminary am plumb worn out. Tired to the bone. And the heat isn't helping either. So, two complaints: heat and lack of sleep. Got that?
But, in honor of the first week of school, I decided to go big (well, sorta big) for dinner tonight. I made Pioneer Woman's (duh) Pork Chops with Apples and Creamy Bacon Cheese Grits. It wasn't too difficult and required little in the way of prep (like chopping and such), but I did need to man the stove for a good chunk of time while the grits simmered. Sort of like making risotto. I had never before made grits. I'm not sure I've ever even partaken of grits up until today. But I was willing to give it a go because 1) it's from Pioneer Woman, my pretend BFF, and 2) it contains cream, bacon, and cheese...which almost certainly guarantees a successful dish.
I encourage you to move quickly towards your own production of Pork Chops with Apples and Creamy Bacon Grits. It's delectable and satisfying and might just make it to my permanent dinner list (except for the cream and bacon part which means I can't make it too often).
Oh, who am I kidding. I can make it whenever I want.
Happy Friday-Eve!!
Cool picture. How's your leg? It's been hot as hell here but not nearly so hot as Texas,
