I don't know about you, but when I make my clumsy, stumbling way to the kitchen at 5:00 AM I prefer to be greeted by order and beauty -- all dimly lit by a tableside lamp. That happens on occasion. But certainly not today.
Today I was greeted by old Sonic cups, the laundry I worked on yesterday, empty milk jugs, dishes from last night's hasty dinner, many half full glasses of water (yep, we're optimists around here). And beneath all the stuff? It's kind of sticky.
This is partially the result of me ignoring the house while I worked on some writing yesterday and partially because I was too tired to deal with the mess when I got home from the elementary school curriculum night last night.
Right now I've got to clean this mess up, resurrect my desk and hit the old writing road again. I don't really want to...and that's the rub about being a grown up...having to do things you need to do when you'd really rather climb back in bed and watch Walton reruns.
P.S. The other day...I had an upset child...and I reflected on what Olivia (Walton) would do in the same circumstances. Then I got a hold of myself and stopped making life decisions based on television shows. I know. It's all inspiration and good times around here. Happy Tuesday!
the anthro bowls make everything look prettier at least! My kitchen has pancakes on the counter. I'm just saying it's my after school snack for the kids.

Hey, Olivia has lots of parenting wisdom to impart. If we have to receive it while lying in bed, so be it. Anything for the children.
I dusted off my writing desk today, too. People started "helpfully" sending me self-evaluation quizzes to diagnose my particular procrastination type (turns out I am all of them) so I figured the jig was up. After pushing through about an hour of loathing and revulsion, I finally found a (tiny) writing groove.

Waltons? I like the parenting style of Judy and Bill in "Still Standing"
